You've decided that it is time to list your home for sale. You try to think through all the qualities that you feel are important and should be evident in the agent that you choose. Of course, you likely want an agent that reflects the utmost professionalism, but what, exactly might you want to notice in your initial interview?
Initial Impression:
- Are they on time and well prepared?
- Did they take the time to specifically gather as much information as possible about your specific property?
- Do they have a well orchestrated marketing plan?
The Not-So-Small Details:
- Does this person listen to your concerns and questions?
- Did they exude confidence?
- Do you feel, in your gut, that you trust them and they have your best interest at heart?
Okay - now here is the one question, to strongly consider:
- How do they speak about others? Do you hear a tone of 'I'm better than others' or do they speak well of others and have a high level of respect for others in the industry?
As a seller, finding a listing agent that wins your confidence and trust is paramount, but keep in mind that this agent must also be able to work well with a multitude of people such as a potential buyer's agent, settlement coordinators, title officers, loan officers, attorneys, inspectors, and township officials just to name a few.
This is an exciting time and the strongest teamwork will be needful between all parties involved. Be sure the person you choose is a team player that has your best interest at heart, and will do their utmost to maintain the highest level of professionalism throughout the transaction all the way to the settlement table!
