What do your kids typically do in their spare time? I have young ones, so right now it’s all about discovering new things and driving me mad (but I love every second of it).
As soon as they get of age, I'm putting them to work. As an entrepreneur myself I've found great joy in doing what I want when I want.
Although it can be quite stressful at times, I wouldn’t change this life for anything. Had I known how to do business at an earlier age I believe I would have been a lot further financially.
I think sometimes we don’t give our kids enough credit, yes, being a kid is important. They shouldn’t be worried about hitting their numbers for the month, BUT I do think they should learn the value of a $1 and that it takes work to make money.
I recently read an article How to Make Money as a Kid and it reminded me that there are some legitimate options for kids to make real money. I was shocked how this 7-year-old made 22 MILLION dollars last year. Like seriously?
I'll never forget one summer I was 13 or 14 and my sister and I LITERALLY sat at home and played Tetris every day all day. Even though I enjoyed it I could have been doing something much more productive.
When I look at my family and the things my nephews and nieces are doing, I know that becoming an entrepreneur is not stressed enough or even considered.
So taking inspiration from the post above I want to challenge you and myself to encourage our young go-getters (the next generation) to be thought leaders and game changers and to become their own boss.
