This is a 5-part series on why you need to embrace your competition.

 

Reason Number 1 – More opportunities for business will come to you.

 

There are always better ways to do things. There just are.

 

Every system which exists can always have a specific PART to that system become more productive and efficient.

 

I firmly believe that I have the best mortgage model in this industry, but even IT is not perfect. Even though I believe that it is the best model in the country, there are still parts which can get better.

 

I received a phone call recently in which an individual from another mortgage company who has been following me on LinkedIn referred someone to me who did not fit their business model.

 

After speaking to who he referred, I might have a new self-generator working for me!!

 

When you open up your mind and see other people in your industry as resources and not threats and you start connecting and sharing ideas, you will find that new opportunities arise which you otherwise would never had had.

 

Again – embracing your competition will increase your opportunities for business.

Sage advice, Khash! I totally agree - it works wonders when you're in a bidding war and the agent on the other side knows you're nice to work with. I've won many bidding wars for my buyers because of past encounters with the listing agents! Looking forward to the rest of your series!

As I told Barbara, I can honestly say that 99% of my local peers, I do embrace! The only ones I really don't care to 'share' with are the ones who copy and steal from me...I'm good on all other fronts! LOL

Great advice. The added benefit is to seek continuous improvement in your business by exploring your competitors business model and systems and determine if integration or simulation might be an improvement to your operation.

I have a wonderful friend who works at another real estate brokerage. We have a great time together, a good friendship and working business relationship too. We can bounce ideas off each other and learn from each other. I'm thankful we don't have petty jealousies to get in the way of that.
