I have a client who has bought and sold with me in the past but, refers me some of the best clients to this day! He is a retired local agent (I think he was in the business for 30 years). The seller, who gave me the testimonial below, was a referral from this retired agent and he had been referred to several other agents as well. So, I had to compete for this listing!

I'm so glad that I didn't turn my nose up and say, "I'm not going to compete for your business" as I know there are some agents who do this. I agreed to go toe-to-toe with as many agents as they wanted to interview. It was a long process and during all of this, the home was being renovated to the max. I was thrilled to ultimately be asked to represent this listing and we had a wonderful transaction, from start to finish.

Thank you, Steve Higgins! I should write a story about this one sometime - a couple of the agents I was competing against are agents that I know well. When asked what I thought of them, I spoke very highly of them. When asked what they thought of the other agents, they 'went low' and resulted in them not being considered for the job! It paid quite well for me to take the high road!

Oh, you're so right, Steven Nickens! I will say that I have been known to pull up the live data on the competition though. I stack us all up beside one another and let them see the stats for themselves. That works very well!
