Unity Day in Miami Shores, Florida

By
Real Estate Agent with Majestic Properties 3061802

The annual Unity Day Celebration took place yesterday, March 3, 2007 in the Miami Shores Recreation Fields.  This year is was specially significant because it was the Village of Miami Shores' 75th year celebration!

The event was sponsored by the Miami Shores Mayor's Community Task Force and included an incredible fireworks display at 8:00 PM.

Unity Day has activities for children of all ages, from bounce houses to slides to a rock climbing wall.  There's also plenty of food, live music and lots of community spirit.  Local organizations sponsor individual stands spread throughout the event, including The Heidi Hewes' Woman's Cancer Association, Miami Shores Presbyterian School, The Cushman School, and more.

Here are some photos of Unity Day.

It is so great to see the community get together in this wonderful event.  You walk around and see neighbors, teachers, the mayor, and even your pediatrician!   I will admit that I was exhausted from chasing our 2 year old around, but we certainly look forward to this event every year.

Kristal - LOL!  I think the Codger's weather report makes me do these kind of posts.  I need to show you guys that we don't EVER have the dirty snow, brown grass nor nasty ice....EVER!

Nick - you can borrow my 2-year old anytime - we'll take turns with him until we tire him out.  I love Oleta Park - we go biking and canoeing there also.  My older ones used to go to Summer camp there.  We'll definitely have David join us with his little one as well.

Kristal - you totally cracked me up!!  That woman in shorts must be FREEZING!

Ines ~ I hear the snow in Miami is a very warm snow.  The people shouldn't be too cold.  :)

Have a great week!

Hi Ines - what a fun post, and I can imagine chasing a 2 year old around there would have worn anyone out.  Great pics!

Rich - LOL!!  there are no Realtor sponsors in this event, if not...you betcha!  Maybe I'll try for next year.

Laurie - It was great and a nice display of fireworks, I might add.

Ann - at least we got to go on the rides with him (Rick and I took turns) - the problem is explaining to a 2-year old about waiting for your turn.
