Feedback After A Showing

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with HomeRome Realty 410-530-2400 311291

There was a post written by Gordon Crawford  about feedback

Here was my response...

" It's not the showing agent's responsibility to provide and help set the listed price. I do think it is common courtesy to acknowledge you were in the property and if there were any real concerns...like... the doors were left unlocked when you arrived or there was a leak and the basement has water or the dog attacked the buyer."

And  I thought of a few more that I might use...

-Thank you for allowing us to show this property. It is not the right home for this buyer but I will keep it in mind for the future."

-"This home was just about perfect but was too long a commute from the buyer's job."

- Thanks for allowing me to show your very special property but without Internet service, this will not work for this buyer."

-Thanks for making the showing so easy, buyers are thinking about this home but with their small children, they have a concern about the backyard access to the busy street.

-This home needs more work than this buyer is willing to do. I appreciate you allowing me to show on such short notice.

These responses allow the listing agent to know you kept the appointment and whether your buyer has any interest.

 Professional feedback

Check out this post about professional feedback.

Here is my all time favorite feedback

'We've just emailed you a contract offer and I look forward to working with you.'

But I do enjoy this kind of professional and personal feedback.

How do you give feedback?

I ask for feedback from agents who show because I never know really what a buyer might say. All of them are different. I have a listing in which almost every single buyer who came through that listing said how much they hated the sunroom. With a passion. This was very helpful information because it explained why the home was not selling. And the sellers, after being told the same thing again and again finally understood.

And then we found that one lone buyer who loves the sunroom. LOL.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents I remember the agents telling me the house would not sell with the purple and gold designer paint job. And then a buyer walked in, loved the house, loved the color purple, asked for the decorator's name... Oh.. and they bought the home!

Yup, Margaret, there is always that one buyer. If the seller likes it, the seller is not an island. There are others somewhere just like that seller, LOL. The trick is finding them and / or being patient enough.

Margaret I do my best to provide feedback on showings. It's pretty simple really as everything is automated.  I'd say about half of the agents here leave feedback on our listings. And honestly it doesn't bother me when they don't. Some sellers want it everytime but they understand not all will take the time.

Good thoughts here. When I was an agent very few ever gave feedback, but then I guess I didn't ask for it, either. I agree that it is a courtesy to let the listing agent know that you actually did show the house.

Marte Cliff Just a common courtesy. When showing properties, I make notes on each house...the good the bad and the ugly. When asked for feedback...it is right there and it takes no time.

Hi Margaret,
I didn't automatically give feedback on all showing unless specifically asked for it.  Then I always did.

I provide feedback when a listing agent requests it.  And, I appreciate feedback given on listings I have.  Ultimately, I think comments can help get a home sold.

I'm always happy to give feedback.  And if there is something of concern the agent should know, state it.  Today was a perfect example.  Showed a listing over the weekend that had some moisture in the wood shingles.  Let them know the gutters may need cleaning based on where the water damage is located.

Feedback is great when it’s constructive that way and can build you up a little better and give you some new ideas and a new fresh perspective. I’ve always liked that.
