Well I'm going to join Jennifer Bukaty in "Breaking all the Rules" in this most recent round of MeMe's.....I on the other hand want to break the rules.......but feel the need to 'ask permission to do so'! lol.....
So here's my compromise......I'll answer all the questions Kathy McGraw sent on to me........and I'm incorporating some of Jennifer's.....then adding a couple of my own......
For many of you that don't know what a MEME is, it's an Internet chain letter that reveals some things others may not know about you. You get tagged by someone else that has been MeMe'd........answer the questions...........quickly or take your time........then post them in your 5 groups......one of them being the MeMe group (if you haven't joined yet join now :-)
Onward to the questions....
1. Who is your favorite musical artist? Nina Simone
Her original timing, the way she uses silence as a musical element and her often understated live act, sitting at the piano and advancing the mood and climate of her songs by a few chords. Sometimes her voice changes from dark and raw to soft and sweet. She pauses, shouts, repeats, whispers and moans. Sometimes piano, voice and gestures seem to be separate elements, then, at once, they meet. Add to this all the ways she puts her spell on an audience...... mmm
And I do have to give an honourable mention to David Cook - I have to admit its the first time an 'idol' has stolen my heart! :-)
2. Who is your favorite artist? Salvador Dali - a master at representing reality in a new way - surrealistic ....fascinating and plain weird.....however to quote him "the one thing the world will never have enough of is the outrageous!"
3. Who is your favorite blogger? Kathy McGraw, Gary Woltal, Andrew Lenza ya ya I know he's on everbody's list! & David Saks :-)
4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them? "Fuddle Duddle!" -Pierre Elliott Trudeau: Swinger, Philosopher, Prime Minister He slid down banisters, dated movie stars and wore a red rose in his lapel. Pierre Elliott Trudeau is arguably the most charismatic prime minister in Canada's history- he may have actually put 'Canada' on the map for many! But he was more than just charisma - really, Trudeau helped shape Canada with his vision of a unified, bilingual, multicultural "just society."
4a. Who has been the person in your life that has had the great impact on you? Probably each of my 3 kids....each of my husbands.....(yep) and boyfriends.........my parents........The people closest to you impact you in a deep way - altering and or enriching you.....so you're never quite the same person today that you were yesterday...
5. What did you want to be when you grew up? I remember in 5th grade being asked to write an essay on what we wanted to be when we grew up! I had a subscription to National Geographic that my Godmother renewed every year for me........and I was in love! Mesmerized immersing myself into the stories......the travel......How could I be anything else but a Photographer/Writer for the National Geographic.....my Bible! It ignores fashion and fluff in favor of visceral photography and articles flavored with personality, passion, perspective, and a strong sense of place! I still want to do that one day when I grow up! :-)
Then I watched Bridges of Madison Country - and thought dang......there was Clint Eastwood doing MY job!
5a) If you could do anything, what would you do? Travel around the world in 80 days! Go to the airport read the departures list and just pick! and then pick again! and again! heading west until I've made it all around the world!
6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia you know? Did you know that the First novel ever written on a typewriter was "Tom Sawyer?
6a.Whats your favorite game? Oh I loved this game, I'm a total geography geek - this is how I travelled the world as a kid, learned all the countries and their capitals...........mind you there were a few less countries in those days...
7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why? Probably the 1950's - I know being in the 'present' is where we all should be - but I still kinda relish the the colourized version of Pleasantville...:-) or was that the early 60's? :-)
7a. When you look into the mirror, who do you see?
That things change. They always do, it's one of the things of nature. Most people are afraid of change, but if you look at it as something you can always count on, then it can be a comfort.
8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held? Other then real estate? Probably working as a '911' operator and dispatcher for the RCMP.
8a. What is the worst job you've ever had? I worked as a nurse's aid in an old age home. My job was to bath and dress these dear old people - after they had passed on...:-(......I was 17 and it was pretty freaky...
9. What is your biggest missed opportunity? When I was young I was asked to go to Berkeley as a Teaching Assistant while doing my Masters.....with what turned out to be a very well known author and political scientist. I turned down the offer - and got married instead.
Tag your it! I feel like a kid again.......! So.......here's the baton!...
