These are the Signs Your Home Needs Restoration

Imagine yourself as a guest, instead of the owner, who will enter your house for the first time. What would be your first thought from seeing the space? Would it make you feel inspired? Or would you be disgusted?

Owing to the fact that most people nowadays are too absorbed with their careers or anything that keeps them busy, some basic but significant facets of their life are neglected including the welfare of their homes. Whether you like to hear it or not, your house reflects the physical, emotional and mental status of the individuals who live there. That is why it is so important to look for signs that your home needs restoration.

Here are the indications that your living space needs repair:

1.   There are clutters everywhere

Clutters are disorganized or messed up stuff that doesn’t contribute to harmonious space. This has subconscious psychological effects like stress and distraction to the homeowners.

According to Marie Kondo’s best-selling book, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, you should tackle clutter by categories, not rooms. So instead of removing clutters room by room, she advises beginning with clothing since it’s the least emotionally loaded of one’s thing (next are books then much later are the photographs). This way, clothes won’t continue creeping from different rooms thus making decluttering much easier.

2.   Pests are frequent

Pests like rodents and cockroaches thrive in dirty spaces. They also come from impaired drainage pipes. Perhaps it’s time for you to start rechecking pipes and hidden dirty spaces in your home specifically in bathroom and kitchen.

3.   You are craving for space

Have you felt too boxed in at your own house? Your home should make you feel comfortable, not cramped. Maybe you need to arrange some of your furniture and appliances to maximize your space. Dedicate a day to observe and carefully plan out what to do to make your home look bigger and airy.

4.   You have changed your lifestyle

Did you quit your 9-5 job and decided to settle in an online home-base business instead? This may require you to have a quiet space where distraction is not welcome. Did you decide to pursue an art program in college and needed a boost of inspiration now and then? Perhaps you might need a new paint job or you just need to display some artworks in the walls. Research how you can make your home perfectly fit your new lifestyle.

Your living space should always make you feel delighted whenever you are there. It should make you feel relaxed after a long day at work or school. Your space should cause pride instead of shame. But don’t fret because it is not too late to start making your home feel like home again.

Can't argue with any of these "signs" that it's time for an update, Tamra. I've never been able to understand how people live with clutter all around them.
