How to Get Crayon Out of Carpet

There are various fairly simple methods and DIY techniques on how to get crayon out of carpet. Well, the most effective process basically involves the use of an iron, a dull knife, cleaning solution, and a vacuum cleaner.

Freeze with an Ice Cube and Scrape Crayon Away
When crayon melts into the carpet, you’re generally advised to first ensure that the wax is fully dry before you think of removing any part of the stain. It’s because the soft crayon is not easily scraped away.
Dependable Carpet Care says if you want to harden the crayon fast, try holding an ice cube wrapped preferably in a plastic bag to the crayon for a few minutes. After that, chip out the cold crayon as much as possible with a butter knife.
You can also use a fine-toothed comb to scrape up the smaller pieces. If there are any pieces left, the best option here would be to use a vacuum before applying the cleaner.

Ironing Crayon Out
Using heat from an iron is by far the easiest way to get crayon out of your carpet. But since some carpets are prone to melting even when subjected to very low temperatures, you should start testing the iron on a small hidden section of
your carpet. Don’t worry if your carpet fibers melt or you notice other effects, as you still have other options under this
method to try out.

First off, you’ll need to cover the section with the crayon using a clean white cloth or an absorbent paper towel. Be sure to heat your iron to the lowest temperature setting, and then use the tip of the iron for pressing into the material where there’s stain. The heat will force the crayon wax bits to stick to the cloth or paper. If the material used gets saturated with wax, consider using a new one to avoid introducing the wax to other areas of your carpet.
What if you’re removing melted crayon? In this case, soak your clean cloth in soapy water and allow the water to seep into the crayon before you introduce your iron. Make sure to blot dry after you’re done with this procedure.

Blot with a Cleaning Solvent
This process is fairly simple. It is ideal for removing crayon stains and some dye that might remain in your carpet after applying other methods. Here, you need to use a clean cloth that’s soaked in water, as well as a detergent for washing dishes to sponge the affected section without soaking the carpet. You should blot the stained
area until you get rid of the crayon wax as well as the color left behind, leaving your carpet like new. When successful, make sure to rinse with cold water and then blot dry.

There you have it! How to get Crayon out of carpet! The DIY techniques we’ve discussed above are certainly worth giving a shot, as they really do work. And for your peace of mind, these are methods we’ve already tried for ourselves.
