It's fair to say that probably every prospective homebuyer has heard the advice: "Consult a lender--get preapproved before shopping for a home". But for someone who has never purchased a home nor dealt with a home lender, consulting a lender may appear daunting. A good idea for new homebuyers is to ask for lender referrals of friends or family or even a trusted realtor. If they've had a positive, recent experience with a local lender, then they'd likely refer that lender. I have a short list of lenders past clients have used successfully & will happily provide that list to my homebuyer clients.
