I go into this contest entry knowing that my efforts are not even close to being up to snuff, but alas, I shall enter in the hopes of setting some personal goals for myself to attain. I really only do one marketing piece per year to my clients, friends and prospects. That one piece is a calendar that I send out towards the end of the year along with a personal note to each person. It is updated with a current photo of myself on a new business card, so that hopefully people keep me in mind for all of their real estate needs.

This contest encourages me to come up with a better year round plan and there is certainly something easy, yet special that I could do for my sphere each and every month of the year. I need to start doing it and perhaps this will be the year that I actually take action upon it. I look forward to reading all about what others are doing and develop something of my own.

For October, I could certainly do a Halloween themed treat with a nice personal note. For November, I could certainly do a Thanksgiving themed gift and personal note. For December, it gets a little trickier, as not everyone has the same beliefs as I do, so a Christmas card might actually offend some and I don't want to do that. I also don't want to sell out my own beliefs and do something that caters to nobody being offended, so I think I will stick with the calendar for December with a nice personal note.

Brian, I am glad about this contest because it is making me reflect on and re-think my marketing strategy for the last quarter. THanks for sharing your plans. I like your idea to change the color of your golf-shirt each year on your signature business card, that's pretty unique and interesting - the background and the real estate behind you stays the same, only we are in a new year, with a different color.

Hi Brian- I love that everyone here is sharing some ideas with you. The important thing is (1) you have to do what you're comfortable with and (2) just get off your behind and do it!!!!! (I'm channeling Barbara Todaro ) As for cards in December, you can send out Season's Greetings or Happy Holidays or Happy New Year's cards.

Well, I am the person that doesn't market to others Lottie Kendall , so I worry that they will be offended if I start doing so, haha. You are probably right though, it is just my own thinking that is getting in the way and everyone would likely enjoy receiving stuff from me, so I just have to do it.
