THE PERFECT HOUSE!! No painting ever, no snow accumulation, garden in winter, low heating bills! WHAT IS IT??

Here's what you can do to build a house that never needs painting, that stays intact longer than any other house built in the winter zones, that has much lower heating bills, one that you can have with a winter garden, be able to open the windows and have great breezes in the summer, never worry about snow and ice and the freeze/thaw cycle that pretty much degrades any house built in northern climes! No snow or rain damage!  EVER.  And: grow your own fruit and vegetables year round.

Well, how is this done?

Simple: build a greenhouse around the main house.  Leave enough room on the sides for simple maintenance, gardening, patio living, for your car to get into the garage, etc.  Leave plenty of sliding doors and voila!

Sound far-fetched?  It's almost an obvious solution and a family in Sweden did just that:

OH, you say: look at the added expense!!

Well, yes.  You have to finance the greenhouse too.  But think about the very low heating bills, the zero exterior paint to apply or maintain, no freezing plumbing, no water or snow on the roof which should last twice as long, great eating in your vegetable garden and fruit trees, etc.

Healthier?  Worth it in the long run?  You decide.

Hi John- when we lived in Northern VA, I wanted to put a greenhouse on our deck that could house my orchids. We had sliders so I tried to convince Larry we could enter it from the sliders. Never did get my green house!

Kathy, your husband owes you a greenhouse! Period.  Orchids can grow here in Florida though without a greenhouse!

Morning John.

Never thought about it, interesting idea. Thankfully, my wife never wanted a greenhouse.

Hi James, I think this would work above the frost line.  I am sure you'd have to use a lot of Windex and so you were able to get out of doing a bunch of work.  And you couldn't throw stones...

That actually seems like it would be an oven in the summertime to me.  I can't imagine it being tolerable in the south in July and August.

Yes, not for southern climes.  Perfect for the north though, the further north the better!

I love plants and growing vegetables and herbs but don't want my windows obscured by greenhouse walls. Different strokes.

That isn't the best picture... I think that is from the back.  Check out the link.  I think the cost of the glass house around the house inside may be a deal breaker for starter houses and even move-ups.

It’s always the perfect house for someone out there in the world who they’re all just kind of waiting for someone to fit into the whole vibe, ya know?
