“Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.” – Dan Gable, 1972 Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist.
I can read that quote over and over and especially today for me in business, it means even more.
Dan Gable is an absolute legend in the sport which molded me into the person who I am today (thanks to a lot of great coaches, great teammates and a bunch of people who never let me quit).
Read that ending phrase a few more times today, “…sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.”
Do you have a goal which you want to achieve? I have an easy solution -- Work more hours or work more jobs or do both.
Come earlier and stay later. Work harder. Focus more.
Vacations? Done.
Sick days? Done. Too bad. Suck it up and deal with it, you are not ten years old anymore.
Are you not happy with your current situation? Stop blaming others and start blaming yourself.
Are you negative and making excuses about your life? Then get out of the way while others take what you want.
Re-energize, re-focus, dust yourself off and pick yourself up off of the mat.
Find the guts to deal with it. You are where you are because of you and no one else and nothing else. Own it, but also understand that you can get to where you want to go because of YOU also.
So get up, get going and get after it people. It’s time to leave our mark on this world. Have a great one.
