When looking for a new museum to visit, don’t overlook the amazing Ogden Museum of Southern Art/University of New Orleans, located in the Warehouse District at 925 Camp Street. The museum first opened in 2003 and has the largest selection of Southern art with pieces from 15 Southern states and the District of Columbia. The museum has more than 4,000 works of art donated from individuals and collectors from around the United States. 1,200 of these works were donated by philanthropist and businessman Roger Ogden.
Paintings, watercolors, prints, sculpture, photographs, wood and crafts are contained in this vast collection of Southern art exemplifying the heritage and history of the American South from 1733 to the present. Also included in the museum are educational programs and a musical series called Ogden After Hours, which is held every Thursday with music by Southern musicians.
