Sometimes Cleaning the Printhead is all That's Needed!
I really, really like my Brother MFC J2750DW Printer. It has been a real trooper. We've had it for a couple of years and often it seems it goes non-stop.
So recently, the print quality got BAD for documents. And yes, I hear you thinking, "Well, you should be running a green office and not causing the sacrifice of so many trees".. but in my neck of the woods, everyone wants a hard copy AND there's an ample supply of recycled paper for purchase. Multiple times of running through the "clean" cycle had not improved the print quality. Rubbing alcohol and a q-tip did not do the job.
We have been printing on "BEST" print choice to get a decent copy for weeks now and I just had not taken the time to order a new printer.
This morning, I started shopping for a replacement, but for some reason, Don, decided to check "Youtube" to see if there was a video on manually cleaning the print head. There wasn't for this model but that thought lead to an attack upon the printer to see if it were possible to manually clean the print head.
In the process of trying to get the printhead off, Chassy found a triangular piece of copy paper stuck to the print head that was soaked in black ink. When she removed that and then ran the machine through a couple of auto-clean cycles, everything got right! It prints just like new! She saved me about $300 this morning.. :)
Thank you, Chassy!
