Do you really want to sell now?
The market is a little soft right now you might say. There are different motivations for wanting to sell. Your wife might have run off with the Gardner and you don't want to cut the lawn any more. You won the lottery and decided to move to Wailea, Maui and call Steve to buy Wailea oceanfront (I am open to this idea by the way). You're selling your home to pay for your daughter's college or worst yet her wedding. So there are a dozen reasons that motivate sellers to sell.
The other option is not to sell. There is an old saying what goes up will come down and then back up. Real estate has always been a good long term investment. Ride out a couple bad markets and it always comes around. I remember not long before our market recently took off agents were crying in their beer. It's not going to ever get better. Guess what it did and now it's worst again. So maybe a good long term plan is to look at your investment in your home or condo. Maybe this is not the ideal time for you to sell. So what are the options? The kitchen is a little run down and needs a face lift. The tile is falling off the walls in the bathroom. This is a great time to put some effort into upgrading your home. A little sweat equity can pay off down the road. So you gotta ask yourself, do I feel lucky. If the answer is no then maybe it time to fix up the old barn.
