Successful Team Building - What Does it Take?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Atlanta Partners

For all of you who have read the Millionaire Real Estate Agent book, AKA, the MREA, I have a burning question. The MREA goes into great detail on the importance of leveraging talent, specifically building a team of buyers agent(s), listing specialist(s), closing coordinator, etc...

But what happens after you have assembled a team of 'DISC' approved, eager agents? By the nature of the their titles the role of the team members is clear.  However, the book is strangely silent on the role of the team leader.  What would his or her job description look like?

I have seen teams who rarely see or hear from their team leader, teams that have a constantly revolving cast of characters and teams where the leader seems to be the only one working. And oddly, I don't think any of them are clearing a million!  What should be the dynamic between leader and team?

When I was at family reunion I heard several team leaders talk. I believe everyone one of them played a very active role in their team. Some were the main listing specialist, some stayed with buyers. One of the most important roles I saw was they set a clear direction and focused everyone on the goals. They also kept the team motivated and helped with role playing etc...

Thanks Dave!  I must attend next years family reunion!  It's the perfect place to talk with agents who have successfully applied the MREA models.
