Santa Barbara Harbor Seafood Festival!

One of the best festivals to go to in Santa Barbara is the annual Santa Barbara Harbor Seafood Festival. This year it is on Saturday October 13th from 10:00 AM to 5PM. Admission is free. Here is an excerpt of the activities from their site

Come enjoy the abundance of the Santa Barbara Channel, rich in sustainably harvested, high-quality seafood. Meet fishermen face-to-face. Select fresh-caught lobster and sea urchin “uni” and have them prepared on the spot. Visit specialty food booths for fish tacos, oysters, mussels, barbequed albacore, fresh crab, clam chowder and seafood paella. Presented by the City of Santa Barbara in partnership with the Commercial Fishermen of Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Harbor Merchants.

It is a fun event, and we would highly recommend it.

Hi Alexandra... for seafood lovers, this festival must be a blast. I don't eat seafood, so this is one food-related festival I'd probably pass on. (Okay, I'll admit it... I do eat caviar.. but somehow don't think it'll be featured here! )

Nina Hollander yes, they do sell caviar, mostly American Beluga and some Japanese. It is that Russian side of us.

We were invited to a major office building open house evening. Each floor had different country foods, and we each had a passport invite for each floor. Ron and I stayed by the caviar (big can the size of a Pizza of Caspian Beluga) and we were the only two making caviar sandwiches (very little bread) and drinking champagne (Dom Perignon) on the French floor (no Russian Floor)...everyone else thought we were insane...They preferred the German floor with the beer and the wurst.. A chacun son gout! LOL

HI Alexandra... so I guess if there is caviar, I have no excuse not to attend... except that is the day I'll be flying back from St Petersburg to Charlotte!

As I often tell my American friends... "you don't know what's good." I bring back caviar with me every year from Russia and as you know, I love champagne. But I've stopped serving it... no one seems to appreciate it. I just make my little caviar omelettes and keep my caviar to myself! And even thought I'm more German than Russian... you wouldn't catch me eating wurst or drinking beer! Ever!
