"They say the universe is expanding. That should help with traffic."
-Steven Wright
We have had an unusually high amount of road construction going on in the Wenatchee area this summer, including several new round-a-bouts. To say it's been a nuisance getting around town is an understatement. As a 47 year resident and retired real estagte agent, though, I know lots of "alternative routes" and don't need to follow the suggested detours.
Wenatchee is growing in population and tourist traffic and our roads are more crowded than ever. I have been hearing a lot of moaning and groaning about increasing traffic and all the new people moving in for years. Still, our traffic is nothing like the big cities and major metropolitan areas.
Change is inevitable and our goal, as proud residents, is to do our best to protect the very lifestyle that attracted all of us in the first place. You can't stop it, so you might as well embrace it.
Unless you are a native American Indian you, too, are an immigrant to the beautiful Wenatchee Valley. We welcomed you, and we will welcome those yet to come who see the benefits of living and working in our piece of paradise.
Good morning Carol. It is great to be welcoming when inconvenienced.

Hi there Carol. It is inevitable for many great spots to live. It's nearly impossible to get through Portland these days because of the traffic issues. We add nearly 30 minutes to our trips to account for any problem.

Hi James Dray ,
It is hard to imagine, isn't it? Just think of all the change that has taken place in our lifetime.
Hi Wayne Martin ,
I totally believe that. If I lived in a big city I would learn to use mass transit.
Hi Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR ,
Best to go happily with the changes, right. I'm sure Austin has changed a lot over that last few years.
Hi Brian England ,
They installed a round-a-bout on the corner near my home this summer. I love it now that it's done. We just need people to learn how to use them! LOL

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat ,
I know exactly what you are talking about. I was born on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon which has been gobbled up in expansion. I can't even tell where the Portland city limits ends and Gresham begins any more.
Hi Sheila Anderson ,
Lots of people discoverying the appeal of life in Central Washington. It is changing a lot of dynamics in the area.

I'll bet.
I hear ya, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD .
I can't even imagine driving through the spaghetti of the Portland freeway system these days without GPS.
Hi Will Hamm ,
I wonder if there will be air traffic controllers when flying cars come into being.
Good afternoon Carol - that is right. Progress happens we just need to do our best to plan it.

Hi Sharon Tara ,
Yes, especially in areas you aren't familiar with. Those darn detours.

Hi Carol, Wenatchee Valley sounds like a wonderful place to visit despite the traffic which of course I'm use to having lived in Austin and now outside of San Antonio. They never seem to stop working on roads in Texas. Thanks for sharing your city and traffic report.
We have noticed a change in the last 2 years in our area, too. We no longer can get across town in 30 minutes. It all depends on the traffic and time of day.
Carol I hear you - they'be been working on the main road coming into our neighborhood for at least six months. It's seems to becoming a bigger rather than smaller project lately - a mess but I'm patient and like you, know how to skirt the worst of it on the back roads.
Carol, I had to laugh at your comment and your post, time to visit Los Angeles and then you will feel like you have no traffic:) 6.5 miles is anywhere 30-45 minutes on a good day, need I say more?:)Endre
The Wenatchee Valley has always been special to me. I can see why you are so blessed...
