Fifty Shades of Gray Freed - Top Paint Colors

Reblogger Roy Kelley

While grays are trending, it can be very tricky choosing the right one because most have undertones or can look different depending on how much natural light they get.

Okay, so maybe not fifty, but enough examples of tried and true grays that always work when selling...or staying.

While grays are trending, it can be very tricky choosing the right one because most have undertones or can look different depending on how much natural light they get.

I’ve compiled a list of NJ's Elite Staging's tried and true grays that work every time.

One note: While computer screens can be off and paint chips are too small to know what the color actually looks like, we use these colors over and over and they always look amazing. Buyers love the following colors:

BM Sterling 1691 is one of my favorite grays which is why I painted my living room this color after my renovation.  It has a very slight bluish undertone making it on the cooler side. I love how elegant it looks:

For a very light, soft gray, we love BM Balboa Mist 1545. It’s soft, subtle and beautiful - see both photos:

Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray HC-170  is the most tried and true light gray because it has no undertones. It’s light and crisp and looks gorgeous day and night:

Benjamin More Gray Owl: 2137 – 60 is bright and works well in rooms that don’t get a lot of natural light.

Warmer Grays:

Benjamin Moore Abalone  2108-60 is a warmer gray making it very versatile. It pairs well with browns, blues, beige, and other shades of gray.

Another warm gray, Revere Pewter HC-172 is still going strong!  It works with any color furnishings.

NJ Home Staging

The Trend for dining rooms are dark, dramatic shades of grays.

Kendall Charcoal: HC-166 is very popular and looks great with white molding:

NJ HOme Staging, North Jersey home staging, NJ home stagers

Another favorite color that’s a little less dramatic, but is equally gorgeous is Benjamin Moore Storm AF-700.

A great way to add contrast and sophistication without over powering the room is by painting the ceiling a dark gray.

This family room is Stonington Gray HC-170, and we painted the ceiling Kendall Charcoal HC-166

If your home has coffered ceilings, we recommend you paint the same color in between the molding to make it pop and add sophistication. This works best in living and dining spaces with lighter grays.

BM Metropolitan AF-690 is a great choice if you like a slight blue undertone.
