Bullying Prevention in Montgomery County Public Schools

October is Bullying Prevention Month and it is a good time to learn more about bullying in public schools and how to report bullying.

A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE

Once viewed as a childhood "rite of passage" that toughened kids to handle the pressures of adulthood, bullying and its more insidious digital twin, cyberbullying, is seen by many experts as a major public health issue — on par with heart disease, cancer and diabetes — with devastating and often long-term effects like the loss of self-esteem, heightened anxiety and depression.

Great post and topic it is a shame that children have to deal with this issue in school. Now they not only have to deal with other children but the Internet as well.

Very timely post, Roy Kelley ... as it seems this is only a growing problem for kids.  I think the internet makes it easier to bully and seemingly less personal for the perpetrator.

Bullying has been around a long time but the problem got worse when parents stopped parenting.
