NATURE ABOUNDS
as recounted by the current owner
A deer path intersects the yard, from northwest to southeast. Does and their fawns are often seen from the kitchen and Main Deck making their way to and from grazing areas. They are not tame and are quick to move on once they sense human presence.
Annually, we have a wide variety of birds visiting the woods, in the spring and summer primarily. Late April into May is peak time for all kinds of migrating birds. Most are transient songbirds. Crows, chickadees woodpeckers and cardinals stay year round. Hummingbirds stay throughout the early spring into fall. They remind us to put their feeders out upon arriving.
There are regular sitings of warblers, and nut-hatches in the fall. This year the black-throated green warblers stayed all summer, their song frequently heard during the days. Some years it's the house wren that lingers.
From time to time, hawks visit the lower story of the mature trees. This year we were visited by a barred owl, hunting during the day and hooting after dusk.
The birdhouse on the main deck has been a nesting spot for wrens and sparrows over the years. You can see the babies from the dining room window in the spring. We are not serious birders. Even so, we routinely see interesting birds, unknown to us, from our decks on two levels, as well as on the ground picking among the dry leaves.
There is interesting flora, as well. Planted daffodils, ferns and hostas have been added to nature's contribution of trilliums, tiger lilies, sedges and woodland ferns. The roadside is edged with chicory, asters and queen anne's lace.
FUN FACTS ABOUT 2203 HILL ROAD, VILLAGE OF SISTER BAY, WI 54234
UPPER LEVEL
The WALK-IN ATTIC can provide space for a room addition. Electricity and plumbing connections are available.
MAIN LEVEL
Eating on the Main Deck never involves mosquitoes. They don't venture high enough from the ground to reach the deck. Bon appetit!
LOWER LEVEL
This level is bermed into the Niagara Escarpment creating geothermal heat control for the rooms. Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
OUTSIDE
On all sides of the house, LEAF-GUARD GUTTERS virtually ensure that no one will have to clean out a gutter again.
The pathway terraces around the house serve as a check for run-off during heavy rains. Watch your step....
COOL SUMMER FACTS PROVIDED BY THE SELLER
Due to the prevailing west winds that travel over twenty miles of cool Green Bay waters, the upland created by the Niagara Escarpment is situated in a local temperate zone. This is particularly appreciated in the warmer months when temperatures range only in the low-70 to low-80s.
The point is, ceiling fans nearly always provide ample cooling, thus avoiding the cost of electric air-conditioning installation, maintenance and power.
This home has it all--location, condition and price! Enjoy the Sister Bay lifestyle from a private location that you'll love. Find out more about 2203 Hill Road, Sister Bay, WI 54234 here.
