Joseph (Joe) Andy died on August 2, 2018. He worked for a title company and was my go to person for some very challenging closings which he championed. I found out that he became ill to cancer and was fighting it strongly. After trying to contact him and not reaching him for several days, I called the office and was told that he had passed. I found out after the funeral had taken place. This is my heartfelt goodbye to a great man and to acknowledge who he was for me.
Here is a story that I would like to share with you. As a realtor, I was working with a seller who was about to lose her home. She had inherited the home from her mom and it was on a gorgeous lot in Hollywood Florida. Some poor decisions left her almost destitute and her home was set for auction within weeks of me taking the listing. The listing had expired and not sold with her previous realtor. We had our work cut out for us as time was was not on our side. Joe Andy stepped forward and was able to halt the auction and then I found a buyer for the property. Right before closing, the buyer walked away and now we were all afraid that she would lose the home. The deadline to pay the bank was approaching and there was no turning back. Pay the bank or relinquish the rights to the house.
Joe Andy stepped in and purchased the property at market value and saved her from losing the home. Was she grateful? Apparently not. She refused to leave the property for months and left it in bad condition. What did Joe say? “Only Love. That was his answer to me every time we came across a difficult real estate situation.
We did several deals together and all our communication were via phone and e-mail. I did not have the pleasure of meeting him until last Halloween. Every year his company has a big Halloween party which is fun and many people especially the owner and managers get dressed up in unique costumes. The above photo is the only one I have of him. He is the one on the left.
Joe Andy was a rare person who will be missed. Gone yet never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness that touched many hearts, including mine.
