Post 1 - I am Thankful for All Saints Day
The sermon at Church this morning was "A Prayer of Thanksgiving For The Saints", for All Saints Day.
This Saints Day is a day to be thankful for those that have gone before us and to remember them. We celebrate that death has perished on Calvary’s Cross. Death will no longer hold its power over us because God sent his beloved Son to conquer death for us. As we move from this life to the next we join that never ending chorus of Saints that blazed the path for us!
I am thankful for this day as I remember those that have celebrated resurrection over the past year! My brother, Dan, died six months ago, I am so thankful to have had him for 84 years.
Other Saints I remember and am thankful for are my mom who died at the age of 53; my dad who died at the age of 88; my grandmother who died at 77; and brother Donald who died at 77, as well as uncles, aunts and friends. I remembered them all today and was thankful that I could light a candle for my family and friends that have gone ahead.
Hebrews 12 says it best. “So since we stand surrounded by all those who have gone before, an enormous cloud of witnesses, let us drop every extra weight, every sin that clings to us and slackens our pace, and let us run with endurance the long race set before us.”
Thanks to Debbie Reynolds and her Thanksgiving Challenge -Post What You Are Grateful For November Challenge, that gives me a change to recognize and acknowledge what I am thankful or grateful for. Are you taking the challenge?
