Debbie Reynolds Thanksgiving Challenge - What Are You Thankful For - #3

#3 Nice People

How many times have you met someone that you really like? I'm sure many, and I am Thankful for those individuals who take the time to be nice to others.

It doesn't have to be some big deed that they have done. When someone takes the time to show another person kindness or compassion in various ways, it makes everyone's day better.

I was on line at a Department Store and the woman in front of me was so nice. She said she heard me on the phone talking to clients and overheard what time I had to meet them. She said she was retired and had all day to shop and insisted I go ahead of her. As I was leaving and thanking her, she wished me luck and said she hopes I sell the house. Kindness from strangers always makes your day a little better. It's as easy as just being polite, honest or friendly.

Larry noticed a woman who was not tall enough to reach the shelf in the frozen food section at the Grocery Store. He asked her if he could help her and reached up and handed her the package. She said nothing. No thank you, no smile, no eye contact. How hard would it have been for her just even give him a nod? He smiled to himself thinking it was okay and he would do it again if someone else needed some assistance.

Kindness can be contagious, and if someone doesn't know how to be nice...you be nice to someone else!

Good morning, Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 (sheila) everyone is always in a hurry.... my days of hurrying are long gone....I had a lifetime of it... I often let those who look like they're losing patience get in front of me... not that I'm nice....I just hate hearing the repetitive sighs....

Nice can be interpreted many ways.... what Larry thought was being nice might have been interpreted as insulting or condescending.... or maybe she was so touched she was just at a loss for words... you never know. I think what is important  is the gesture and the intention - you can't control how it is interpreted.

Good morning Sheila. I am with you on this. Some people are just special, kind and good. Others are sad or embittered. All we can do is out best.

Sheila, I agree. I'm always amazed at the silence when I hold a door or the lack of a wave when I let someone in sitting in traffic. I just remind myself we can't control their response and move on. Some people are just plain unhappy but, if we all focused on being nice the world would be a better place.

Good morning Larry and Sheila.  It is a pleasure when we run into nice and courteous people.  I hope it's not getting rarer to find them.

Good morning, Sheila and Larry - I find the nicer I am, the more nice things I encounter.  Bring on the niceness.  Do you think it contagious?  I think so.

Like Michael Jacobs said we experienced the same things in our lives. Neither one of us cares if we get a thank you or a smile back...we keep on!  One of our daily goals is to see how many people we can get to smile or feel better.  And it is very rewarding.  A

I try to only be around nice people, but it doesn't always work out that way, which makes me even more thankful for nice people!

My mother-in-love always use to say, "Do good and good will come back to you".

It's so much easier being nice and doing good, it just amazes me at times how people go around with a chip on their shoulder. Thank You for sharing your nice story.  I'm always thankful for having the opportunity.

I'm with you Sheila, how hard is it to say a little thank you? Good for Larry that he forgave and will do it again even without a thank you.

Hi Sheila, I agree with this post. It doesn't take much to be nice. And it is so nice to receive a compliment, assistance, etc.  The lady that Larry was helping was probably in shock that someone wanted to help here :)
