Walkability in Kentlands, Gaithersburg, Maryland
I am grateful that we live in a very walkable community. Kentlands is a planned mixed-use community within the City of Gaithersburg in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland. Kentlands is one of the favorite areas for a home purchase by families relocated to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.
If you follow my blog posts, you already know that I like to take photowalks through Kentlands. I usually post photographs of the flowers I find but there also hundreds of beautiful homes and a vibrant commercial area. There are sidewalks in front of most of the homes in Kentlands and the community is well lighted for the early morning or late evening walks. We also have the option to use the pathways through the wooded areas and around the lakes in the community and the neighboring community, Lakelands.
Many of the Kentlands residents enjoy the ability to take long walks, to jog, or to run through the community. The health benefits are obvious. The runners are often on the streets and the young mothers are jogging as they push their baby carriages.
You save a lot of time when stores and restaurant options are nearby. And, there is a positive environmental impact when you walk to your destinations rather than driving. Diversity is also a feature when you have a mixture of housing types and and price ranges.
