Walkability in Kentlands, Gaithersburg, Maryland

I am grateful that we live in a very walkable community. Kentlands is a planned mixed-use community within the City of Gaithersburg in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland. Kentlands is one of the favorite areas for a home purchase by families relocated to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.

If you follow my blog posts, you already know that I like to take photowalks through Kentlands. I usually post photographs of the flowers I find but there also hundreds of beautiful homes and a vibrant commercial area. There are sidewalks in front of most of the homes in Kentlands and the community is well lighted for the early morning or late evening walks. We also have the option to use the pathways through the wooded areas and around the lakes in the community and the neighboring community, Lakelands.

Many of the Kentlands residents enjoy the ability to take long walks, to jog, or to run through the community. The health benefits are obvious. The runners are often on the streets and the young mothers are jogging as they push their baby carriages.

You save a lot of time when stores and restaurant options are nearby. And, there is a positive environmental impact when you walk to your destinations rather than driving. Diversity is also a feature when you have a mixture of housing types and and price ranges.

Happy Friday Roy. You are right, walkability is a factor many consumers consider when they are looking for a home. It is very convenient to have walking trails and easy access to amenities.

I live in a walkable community, as well, Roy, with 13 pocket parks and a dog park. Being a New Yorker who walked everywhere, I love it.

We had quite the frost here last night. We weren't suppose to, it was suppose to stay cloudy and above freezing so i did not cover my mums. I m afraid to go look at what mother nature has done.   Have a good Friday Roy

Being able to walk to places is truly a blessing and it is one of the reasons that I chose the home that I chose when I was ready to buy.

Roy, walkability is something a lot of retirees like especially walking their animals. We have a great place to walk, except we do have hills :)

I wish we had more walkability where I live. Traffic is getting worse and we have to drive everywhere.

Walkable communities are great. We live out in the country, but we are grateful for the ability to walk our dog off leash behind our home. We consider that walkable too! Just different kind of walkable.
