Sometimes Hell is a bit distant but too close a reminder.........

Even though about 100 miles away from the Butte County fire, the one they call the Camp Fire, it fills the Napa Valley with a smokey eeriness. The sun at setting was a brilliant orange, something I failed to truly capture in these photos. It is closer to this font color, but only a close likeness of what it actually is for this was shot directly into it's setting face.

After last years October fires here with my evacuation bags packed for 8 days, this new inferno is way too close. Throw in a few too many shootings and Hell is knocking on all our doors. When will I be able to close my eyes and forget these infernos, these carnages. To the moment when I can wrap my understanding around all that is happening and begin once more to sense things are getting better, not worse.

In this subtle glimpse of Hell does one truly see this orange globe in the the sky for what it is. A simple path to somewhere perfect to be. Where God's smile shines directly on all of us even if sometimes in this most un-natural way.

To stare blindly into a setting sun and have it's orange ball stare back with no answers, why? Something is wrong with heaven and we truly wish this not to be a glimpse of Hell. But if so, maybe in this same essence of beauty is a sense of understanding, a way to the correct path. Maybe this is all we can ask for.

Till whatever comes from all of this, any final step to this understanding and it's reality is still a bit too far away. To attaining any inner calmness, to a better tomorrow.

Way too many words for me and I am certain for you for trite does become it's own worst enemy.

This link is just my 2 cents trying to help, hope it is legit for I have not checked it out. Hey guys! Luckily I moved to the beautiful Yountville last year from Paradise. Unfortunately my two best friends and their families lost their homes and belongings. I’m attempting to raise money for them to help recover. If you can’t donate, please share on social media!! Thank you so much!!! https://www.gofundme.com/camp-fire-victims-family-urgent?pc=ot_co_dashboard_a&rcid=803aca7a21874d9ebf1f93cb0bc3d1f7

Curtis, the fires are totally scary.  I can't even imagine what it must be like to live knowing it could literally all go up in smoke.  And I guess it could all go up in smoke for any of us, even if we are not in California.  Amazing photo!

Dear Curtis,

A couple of years ago, Alaska had over 300 fires. Almost the whole plane full of crews on the way there & quite a few on the way back.

Stay safe Curtis.  I can't imagine the devastation this fire is causing not to mention the loss of lives.

Good morning Curtis. This is all too frightening and devastating. My daughter is out in Malibu visiting friends. They had to evacuate and have been giving me reports about the devastation. They are all safe but nervous and terrified. I also just learned last nite that we have relatives near the Camp Fire and waiting to hear about their safety. We are praying all are safe.
