We are so thankful for all the organic farmers at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market. They show up every week to bring us the freshest ingredients for all of us to enjoy.
The organic farmers we have met are in their late 20's. Some are older, and some have the whole family working with them. When we asked them, what motivates them to farm organically, the answer is: "I want my kids to know what real food tastes like, and stay healthy!"
We appreciate the families with three generations working in harmorny. They all do their part, whether weighing, taking money, or handing tastes of their fruits and vegetables.
On occasion the market features companies who produce organic rare items. Good Land Organics brought caviar limes and their grown in Santa Barbara coffee. We wrote a post about this on November 10, 2012, exactly 6 years ago. Pictured above is caviar lime.
And here is what they look like when you open the pod! Each pod is filled with little cubes of lime juice that pops in your mouth! I have used them to top grilled fish, and also tossed them into salads.
We are so thankful for all the new vegetables, fruit and heirloom varieties that have been kept alive by these wonderful farmers, and that we have an opportunity to taste them!
