Thankfulness (DAY 6) - Rainbows, Sunsets & Sunrises
When you're a tall youngster (especially a girl), you often have to be told to 'Hold your head up,' 'Hold your shoulders up,' 'STAND TALL!' I heard all of those things growing up and because of that, I am ever so self-conscious about my posture now, especially as I age. Do any of you gals remember ever having to walk with a book on your head for your posture?! I remember that vividly - and I hated every minute of that exercise!
My mother, the disciplinarian, would command me to 'STAND UP STRAIGHT' while my father always made everything one of life's lessons. Instead of 'stand up straight,' my father would say, "If you look at the ground [when walking] all you'll find are cracks and bugs. But, if you look to the sky, you'll find whatever your heart desires."

I remember his love for the water and the sky - and if you found a rainbow, sunrise or sunset over the water, that was just a WOW moment! Even today, for me, it still is. I feel the power from beyond more during those times, than anything else that I see day-to-day.
*This double rainbow was spotted right in front of my last home in South Charlotte.
I think that's why I love rainbows, sunsets & sunrises so very much. To me, it's just God's way of nudging us when we're not paying attention! Mother Nature provides so much for our enjoyment each and every day. So, look up, hold your head high and discover all you can!
