I’m Thankful for our Firefighters, First Responders & Emergency Personnel Fighting our California Fires
No doubt most of you have seen the horrific photos, videos, and live coverage of the fires raging in California for days now. While wildfires are common here it’s never something one gets accustomed to.
I’m thankful beyond words for what the thousands of California firefighters, and those from other states, as well as first responders and other emergency personnel are doing to try and combat these wildfires and save as many homes, but more importantly people, as possible aginst seemingly impossible odds.
Putting their lives on the line for hours and days at a time is not something the rest of us can even begin to comprehend, in situations that at times seem impossible to deal with.
The devastation we've seen is beyond description, and yet one has to be thankful it is not worse than it is in some areas and that many homes have been spared despite the massive destruction.
Special thanks is due the many people who are helping in other ways – staffing evacuation centers, medical staff, others helping people to escape and find shelter – and those who simply step in to help neighbors and people they don’t even know in any way that they can.
I've come to appreciate these emergency personnel even more after the fires in Carlsbad 4 years ago.
