Fabulous shot of that Ancient Redwood Tree!  Which park were you guys hiking when you took that picture?  Sometimes I have to pinch myself - I can't believe I live in Redwood Country.  Hiking through these forests never gets old.

That big California redwood reminds me of two others with the goose pen caves. One going down to Tall Trees Grove, and another along Cal-Barrel Rd further north.

I've been other spots in the redwoods lately too, adding photos for this page:

Largest Coast Redwoods in California

My photos are not photography though - just pix.

Cheers,

MDV

Almost forgot to mention ...

That's the big tree page I already shared previous - no new thing.

Also, I may be overlooking the answer, but someone asked where you got the shot of that tree. I'd like to know too, in case I get near it. I like to take pics of as many hollow trees as I can find.

If you ever find something as gnarly as the corkscrew redwood, please post those too.

Thanks

PS - hope your biz is doing well.

MDV - I wasn't aware that this was your web site until I started looking through it more, very nice. I visit the Redwoods every year and come across some monsters because I hike into them and know several great areas to take pics. If you are ever interested in any of my pics let me know, all i would ask of you is my name next to them. Very generous don't you think. I take so many photographs, it's nothing to let someone use them.

Just came across your last replies today while web surfing. I looked on Google Earth, and found the Ruth Lake or Ruth Reservoir, and the Mad River shows too. I think it was last November that I passed Fortuna on the way near Avenue of the Giants. Just spent two half days down there. The area east is in my mind to visit sometime - was looking at some Flickr.com photos of Trinity County posted by various folk.

Was at Prairie Creek redwoods and Redwood National Park about 2 weeks ago. And due to a spontaneous invitation by someone near Arcata, I'll be camping at Prairie Creek next weekend for Bushwhacks in Jed Smith redwoods and Redwood National Park. Not sure exactly where we are headed yet.

Thanks for the tip.
