While you're considering Amarillo , Texas for your next move, you must also consider the education your child will be receiving.  Amarillo is served by the Amarillo Independent School District and the Canyon Independent School District .  The Amarillo district serves thirty-six elementary schools, nine middle schools and four high schools while the Canyon district serves four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.

Both districts have great missions, core values, goals, and philosophies.

  • Their Mission - To ensure every student is prepared beyond success when graduating from high school.
  • Their Core Values - Student performance, quality staff, cost effectiveness, customer service.
  • Their Goals - Students will meet passing standards for tests, students will progress annually toward graduation, and the number of students preparing for success will increase each year.
  • Their Philosophy - They affirm that teachers are the critical leaders, they value each student and employee as an individual, and they understand that student achievement requires a strong family, business, and community bond.
