Thankful For Being Able to Travel

There are some things we take for granted. We’ve always had them and wouldn’t even think of not having it or how our lives would change without them.
Having a United States Passport is one of them. I know plenty of people who wanted to visit the United States but couldn’t get a Visa for whatever reason. Sometimes, those reasons don’t make any sense but how can you argue with the consulate that’s issuing the visa.

Then, there are some people who have everything they need to travel but due to health reasons, they can not. One of my close friends who lives in New Jersey has MS, she’s one of those people who can not travel easily. I had promised her that I would drive her to FL from New Jersey, it was very difficult. We had to make frequent stops, about every 30-40 minutes. Needless to say, it took us 27 hours to get to FL, it usually takes me sixteen hours when I drive alone.

Having a passport, especially United States passport is a privilege. Many would give up everything they ever owned and know to obtain one if they had a chance.

Sometimes, I’m moving too fast, making my travel plans and don’t stop to think what I’m able to do today didn’t come easy. I love to travel, whether be within the US or overseas, I just can’t imagine how different my life would be if I didn’t have the freedom to do so.

Thank you Debbie Reynolds  for this great contest.

Ahh, travel. Would set some plans to take some time away from work and have a little R & R. There sure are great places to see but just taking one step at a time.

Hi Leif Price, hope you'll have the opportunity to do just that in the coming year.

Hi Beth

I enjoy travel as well, although it has become so much more complicated thee days, and getting there, or home, is not always fun. But to have the opportunity to travel, here in the US or internationally, is something special.

Good morning Jeff Dowler, CRS, I agree with you on how difficult it has become to travel, I do not fly during the holidays, just don't want to wait hours just to pass the security. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Beth, being able to travel is a blessing and I admire that you make sure you take full advantage of it. It's on my list to travel more in the future. You're right that not everyone can do that and it's something to be grateful for. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

You are so right, I have certainly taken for granted the ability to travel.  Of course, I don't really travel internationally, so I don't even know about the requirements of a Visa in doing so.  I have a friend that wanted to travel to the USA from another country and was denied a Visa and it didn't make sense to me.  I kind of thought we could travel anywhere we wanted to freely, as long as we had a passport and didn't realize that we actually had to have permission from the place we are traveling to.

Good morning Brian England, it is different with each country, while you may not need to get a visa with a US passport, it's the opposite for those who are wishing to travel to the USA.

Beth Atalay - Travel is exciting, especially when everything runs well without delays. But some of us, have no choice if we have family outside of the U.S. and so we make the effort and the best of every situation. And I think it's true for you as it is for me that quality time with family and friends from far away places is so valuable and never to be taken for granted.

I really like your photographs! Those ancient ruins and the landscaping is quite unusual. I love to learn about new places, things to see and do when traveling.

I'm sorry your friend has MS. Traveling has to be so much more challenging for her. I almost wish there were flights and planes designed for special needs to help patients and people with health challenges to be more comfortable.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Beth. May abundance be yours for the keeping.

Traveling is fun, but I rarely take off very long at a time. My schedule usually involves "mini-trips", something you can accomplish over a 4 day weekend. I feel the need to stay close to clients and my market area. Every time I plan a trip, I get busier than ever. That's my secret to making the phone ring. LOL

We also love to travel and are grateful for the ability to do so. I have 3 expired passports sitting on my desk that need to be updated and one 5 going on 6-year old that has never had a passport at all, so we are working on that so we can do some more traveling! -Kasey
