Saturday Smiles: Highlights Of The Santa Barbara Farmers Market!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Our mornings are getting colder.  It was 50 degrees when we left for the market.  These many colored string beans looked like confetti!

Pictured above are big leeks.  They are part of the onion family and flavorful and mild at the same time.  As one of the farmers always tells me, they served leek(leak) soup on the Titanic!

Onions and their varieties abounded today.  Pictured above are shallots, flat Italian onions (cipolini) and the yellow ones.

Vitamin C fruits are making their appearance.  First, come the mandarins pictured above, the oranges will show up next week.

At the Asian Market, we spotted lemon grass.  This is used for flavoring, and gives a dish a citrus, minty flavor!

Wishing you an abundance of Saturday Smiles!

I love the multiple colored beans, Alexandra.  And, I buy a lot of lemon grass at our local Farmer's Market.  Wonderful pictures as always.

I vote for the colored string beans. I bet the flavor is wonderful. I have never cooked with lemon grass but would love to give it a try.

Morning Alexandra.

Well I've had my share of Thai food, so I know I've had lemongrass before.

All lovely pictures, Alexandra, of the bounty at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market. But I really loved the picture of the leeks... looks like something that should be framed.

I have been away and missing some of your Saturday Santa Barbara Farmers Markets.  Honestly, it was so familiar and wonderful to be back.  Leek Soup is one of my very favorite soups ever since I was a child.  My Belgian godparents told me the soup was a family recipe from the old country.  They called it 'Low French Leek Soup.'
