When Your Ring Door Bell Goes Dead

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Been trying to track down one of those discount agents this morning. I got a cryptic message from an "assistant" which could have been a robot since it wanted a Y or N or a STOP in my text messages. The text was about making an appointment on a listing that MLS had requested the buyer's agent call the seller. But robots can't read, and many discount agents don't read MLS either.

I tried to contact the agent and, after several rounds with the brokerage, they promised to give the seller's phone number to the agent. But the agent seemed like a deer in headlights this morning. He had no idea which properties he planned to show this afternoon and had no recollection of generating a text yesterday. He said clients sometimes remove homes from tours, and they make last-minute updates to their tour.

What happened to agents looking for property for their buyers? Or making appointments? It must be just this particular company. I don't know.

My blog today is not about discount agents, though. It is about what happens when when your ring door bell goes dead and the solar charger doesn't work. In fact, I wish I had researched it more to start with and never relied on a solar charger. Most of the reviews are bad. In fact, Amazon won't even take anymore reviews on this product, because none is good. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Update on Ring Video Doorbell 2.

Dear Elizabeth,

What a bummer about the doorbell video. That's a lot of money to spend on useless technology. With regard to the left hand not know what the right is doing, that seems to be so common now, that I have to mop up others' mistakes once or twice a day. Utilities, insurance, vendors of any sort are not what they used to be.

I know nothing about Ring Doorbells but sometimes agents get themselves all confused and turned around.

Dörte Engel I have figured out how to make the auto insert with the at-sign work for you. Type your last name, LOL. So far, the new doorbell seems OK.

Doug Dawes He never called me back either like he promised. So I texted him this morning to ask if ever figured out whether he was showing that listing, and he said the client removed it from tour. Could be true, could not be true.

Hi Elizabeth- we have the Ring that ties into our existing doorbell so it's wired.   It helped last Christmas when I got a notice from UPS that a package had been delivered and when I went to look (like within 3 minutes) it wasn't there. I also didn't see anyone delivering a package via the Ring. As it turns out, the UPS driver's helper had delivered it to my neighbor.

Hi Elizabeth... I knew there was a reason I stick with a $10 old fashioned doorbell! If it breaks, it's no muss or fuss to replace.

Elizabeth, have had the Ring doorbell on both homes, but are connected to low voltage, so never have any issues.  So sorry to hear you are.

Your post made me laugh even though none of this is funny, but it's how you got to the point of your post!  My Ring doorbell doesn't work at all, and we have the same issues with these cheapo agents, too.  The pain is everywhere!  Hope you have a better tomorrow! :-)
