My Favorite Phrase, "Welcome to Real Estate!"

This month makes 17 years of my real estate career and I have learned that anything can happen and will happen.  The fun part about it is I have not seen it all.  The feelings that a client could have on a real estate deal is joy and pain.  Normally the pain is first and then comes the joy.

1.  I am at the closing table and the deal does not close.

2.  My seller has moved all their things out of the house but they did a last minute credit

check only to find out the buyer has purchased a new car.

3.  My client got fired after the loan approval.

4.  The appraisal came back at $275,000 when the contract price was $305,000 and seller is

not willing to come down with the price.

5.  The client got an attorney a week before closing and she says that the closing will have

to be delayed three weeks due to nothing other than making themselves feel

important.

6.  I have a cash deal ready for closing in two weeks only to find out the house has to go to

probate.

If you are in the business, you get my drift and know that our list is much longer.  When I

hear real estate issues whatever they maybe, my favorite phrase to myself and other real

estate agents, "Welcome to Real Estate."

After I say that phrase, the next one is my friend name KIM (Keep it Moving!).

Hi Karen,
So, so true.  I was in real estate 30 years and every transaction was different.  You will never be able to say "I've seen it all".  Murphy's Law is alive and well in real estate.  Thanks for the post for the What Inspires You Challenge.
