ARDELL tagged me in the 2008 Supermeme and WOW! ARDELL knows how to write a “MeMe”
1. Who is my favorite musical artist?
I hate country western music, because that is what my Dad listened to when I was growing up and in the 1960’s country western music was pretty “twangy”. My Dad played Johnny Cash all the time. I know all the words to all the “prison” songs. But I listened to rock and roll. A couple of years ago I found a new passion for Johnny Cash and started buying all of the CD’s and found myself listening to them all the time. I was driving cross-country the day Johnny Cash died and just minutes after hearing of his death I pulled into the rest stop on I-40 in Tennessee that was named after him. That was wild! My Johnny Cash CDs are my road trip music and the music I listen to when I am in my yard working. I think it was that little girl in me still needing that connection to my Daddy. My Dad died in August and I find myself listening to Johnny Cash when ever I need to be close to him. So – long story short Johnny Cash! WOW, if my Dad could hear me say that!!
2. Who is your favorite artist?
I didn’t choose a favorite artist until I was an adult because my view was clouded by an aunt who is a famous artist. In my family you could only like the way she painted and well I guess that ruined art for me. As an adult I was able to learn about art on my own and I know it sounds a little cliché but it is Monet – I love the Iris Mauves and my favorite is Madam Monet and her Son. I enjoy any of the garden paintings or the cottages by the sea. Of course I only have “prints”. I do however have a huge redwood scene my aunt painted for me and I love it.
3. Who is your favorite blogger?
I don’t have a favorite blogger.
4. If you could meet anyone (alive or dead) who would it be and what is the most interesting thing about them?
I would want to meet my paternal Grandmother. My Dad’s Mom died when he was 18. She died of a heart condition that today would have been treatable. I know I am like her even though we never met.
5. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up during the Women’s movement I wanted to be a lot of things because they told us we could. I wanted to be a cop thanks to Cagney and Lacy. I also wanted to be a social worker but during my first year of college I volunteered at a special education school and changed my direction. This was in the years prior to mainstreaming so the entire school was students with special needs. But the one most important thing I wanted to be when I grew up was a great Mother. I wasn’t a stay at home Mom but I am one of the best Mother’s you will ever meet – just ask my boys :). Mission accomplished there!!
6. What is the most interesting piece of trivia that you know?
That I am as old as the State of Alaska and born the same year as Barbie.
7. If you could live in any point in history what would it be and why?
I have always wanted to live during the 50’s. I would have liked to have graduated high school in the year 1955. I also would like to have been born in 1976 or around there because that would put me closer to my husband’s age. It is difficult to think that we will never be married 25 years because I am so much older.
8. What is the most interesting job you have ever held? Paying or non –paying?
I have worked in a variety of jobs that were usually male dominated. I was the only female to work in a real lumber yard back in the 80’s before the likes of Lowes and Home Depot. I can load lumber and can tell you what nails you need to use for anything. I also could pull a lumber package for a home off of plans and specs.
I also worked for a company called Rocket Research Company in eastern Washington and helped manufacture propellant for bombs. I held a Washington blaster’s license for several years. I have received letters of accomplishment from the Navy on the MK-50 torpedo program.
Here are my choices and I am sure some have been tagged - oh well - I don't have time to go thru all the other MeMe's :)
