Yesterday I stopped in at my local Oriental Gift shop. Actually and ironically it is the biggest of its kind in the United States. It is always dangerous being there because the choices are incredible and the proprietors are lovely. They have two homes: one here in the Berkshires and another in Asia. They spend their time between the two and have amazing things you might not even see abroad.
I have bought statuary for my garden, soapstone boxes I never saw on my travels and gorgeous masks. You can buy a life-size elephant, a house that is bigger than mine, jewelery or furniture. Actually the choices blow my mind. Yesterday I was there for the annual sale to clean out as much merchandise as possible so that they will have room for the containers coming. A friend saw a small wooden head when she was here recently and asked if I ever saw one again to get her one.
I bought a few things, including the head, but left a small Japanese jewelery box I found in the normal sale area that is unheated. It was not perfect but I decided I didn't care so back I will go today. You never know what you will find. Just some more magic here in the Berkshires.
