It took me nearly a year to reach this point, but the time was well spent.

This evening, both my real estate companies (Wayzata Lakes Realty in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Madeline Island Realty in La Pointe, Wisconsin) passed the 100,000 point mark on ActiveRain!

Friends deserve much of the credit.

Karen Anne Stone mentored me and gave me great advice.

Charles McDonald offered his friendship and his guidance.  Charles was the first AR member to write me and introduce himself.

Ruthmarie Hicks has been a source of inspiration and optimism.

Joey Aszterbaum was kind enough to provide encouragement on more than one occasion.

Kathy McGraw served as an example of what it means to be a "Rainer".

Mike Jones became a friend the moment we exchanged greetings.

And as time went along, the list of friends and comrades grew to include Joan Mirantz, Anthony Clark, Karen Moorhead, Eric and Karen Webster, Steve Harless, Poppy Dinsey, Inna Hardison, Patricia Kennedy, Jeff Dowler, Marc Grossman, Jason Crouch, Paula Hathaway, Cindy Jones, Rich Dansereau, Danny Thornton, Brian Schulman, Stewart Penn, Lane Bailey, Robert Lockard, Brad Andersohn, Andrew Lenza, Jennifer Monastero, Randy Prothero, Diane Aurit, Tom Braatz, Rich Quigley, Bob Stewart, Teri Eckholm, Patti Ann Kasper, Ricardo Bueno, Susan Walters, Tom Elder, Nancy Rivera, Mitchell Hall, Margaret Rome, George Tallabas, Guy Lofts, John Occhi, Scott Daniels, Steven Stearns, Neal Bloom, Dawn Workman, David Abernathy, Joanne Hanson and Richard Lombari.  If I've neglected to mention anyone, I humbly apologize.

Some of the folks listed above don't receive the notoriety they deserve.  They are all top-notch industry professionals.  I'm proud to call them my friends.

You don't succeed in this world without building relationships with extraordinary people.  Belonging to Active Rain has been of immeasurable value to me because it opened a door to the many friends I have met here.

Muldowneys, thanks so much.  The most satisfying measure of success you'll find here is the networking opportunities.  And they can make a huge difference in your career.

Inna, you know I'm a fan of your writing and your opinions!

Reaching a point milestone is a good time to stop and reflect on how you got there in the first place.  We'd all be less successful without good friends and colleagues here.

Keep up the great work.

You know, I have subscribed to your blog for a long while and JUST NOW found out that you have another company in another state. I'm such a dork.

I kept seeing another picture of you out there on AR and wondered if you were just toggling between two profile photos.

Thank you for the shout-out. It's so interesting how we build these netfriendships.

Kudos

Joey,

Yeah, I've been "border-hopping" between Minnesota and Wisconsin for about eight years now.  It works well.  Many of my primary home clients in the Minneapolis & Saint Paul area also happen to love Lake Superior.

Joan Mirantz has accused me of having a "double identity" and a "split personality".  I think she meant it as a compliment..

:)

Thanks for being a great friend on AR!

Kathy -- Sometimes I wonder if anyone's reading my Madeline Island stuff except the locals and my summer home clients.  Most of what I put up there is Localism posts.  The Minneapolis blog is where I get more global with what I write.  It's nice to have the option to do two very distinctly different blogs, each with its own emphasis.

I'll toast to our second year also!  Anybody got any champagne??

Sabrina, I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have about being a broker in multiple states.  I got my Wisconsin broker's license in 2000 and my Minnesota license a couple years later.  I even had a third broker license in South Dakota for a short time, but it got to be too complicated.

Practicing in multiple states can be rewarding, but it's a lot of work.  And the CE requirements will take up additional time as well.
