Better late than never:

"The (California) state Realtor group announced this month that 61 MLSs and local Realtor groups in the state have sent non-binding letters of intent to participate in the statewide MLS effort. There are 70 MLSs in the state."

"The goal is to launch the statewide database either in the last quarter of this year or the first quarter of 2009."

Trulia is setting not a bad example on how the search could (or should) look like that MLS' cannot disregard anymore. Have you seen new Trulia's listing capabilities? Quite remarkable. At the sam time Trulia is getting hit by capturing unethically hijacking street addresses, but overall, the Trulia team is putting the hit on "pre-historic" MLS'.

Just wondering:  Do you think this will all come under the MLS Alliance umbrella?  IF so, then

I am disappointed because it is not very powerful for searching and statistics.  As an appraiser I am

very interested in those things.

Alisa, I don't think so (and I hope so). To compete with the impact of Trulia (and Trulia's experiece clearly shows the type of information and its format clients would like to see) CAR has to come up with somthing what is at least equally as good.  MLS Allianc is "common least denominator" and is a good "gap measure" solution, but I entirely agree with you that it is not sufficient for a "final" solution.

Connecticut has become one mls.  So much better!  Now, if we could just order everything online, instead of the servicing board, it would be great. Isn't Trulia auto-fed by each mls?  My listings were online with them and I had no idea.  Another way for them to make money?  I couldn't believe it read, agent unknown!  Excuse me, I am the one who procured the listing:)

It's a Good Life!

Fran,

Listings are syndicated by different website providers, e.g. if you get a website using the house property as a domain, the website provider usually submits the listing to different websites. You as LA can do it yourself now, either for free or for e fee,.  The fee gets you the "featured listing" status. What agents have to be careful with using diffreent "free" widgets from Trulia.  If you ibstall them, you might surrender your future traffic and Google ranking to Trulia.  You can read more about at Agent branding is good, but Trulia.com is still deliberately hi-jacking street addresses, frustrating the interests of sellers.

I can't wait!  I belong to about 25 of the 70 MLS's in CA.  This NEEDS to happen, not only for the public we serve but for the many agents, brokers, and companies that are "forced" to join MLS's simply because the MLS Mafia says we have to if we want to be competeive in the market place.

I certanly agree with you Jason.  In the Bay Arae situation finally improved and we need to belong to 2 MLS' (Quattro and MLS Listings), but not a long time ago you needed 8 to 10 to find a house a house in the "Bay Area" for a client.
