I have identified 8 different times that a thought process became very visual to me and choose to write about them thinking they may benefit others who are on the success path. Below is Example number one.
The day that I was promoted manager for Avco Financial Services the Regional Supervisor gathered all of the managers in our area together for a general meeting and to announce that there was a company wide contest and the winners got to attend a retreat with spouses in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This was my first day on the job as a manager so I was already excited and enthused. As our Supervisor talked I got more and more excited and decided I was going to win the trip. I was excited. I had only been on an airplane one time in my life and had never stayed in a resort area.
After the meeting I went home and told my wife about the contest. We looked Scottsdale up on the map and got pictures and brochures about the area. (This was long before the Internet or Google). I told her that I was going to win and we were going to be able to take a vacation to Scottsdale.
These announcements were affirmations; So many times affirmations have not worked for me and I have heard others say the same thing. What was different? Why is this a good example ? Because the best affirmations go beyond the words to the feeling; to the emotion. I felt I was going to win and win I did. Out of perhaps 100 winners my branch finished number one !
Maybe some affirmations will work without emotion but to get the best results find a way to get excited about the affirmation (goal). Get excited, get animated and talk about your anticipated success. Then the affirmations will develop naturally and guide you to the success that you want.
