Speechless Sunday: Joy

Endre, at our Christmas Eve garden party here at the house, we had a White Elephant Gift game.  Most know this game as each participant choosing a number takes a chance of choosing  a  wrapped mystery gift which can be either very silly or impratical when unwrapped or at times may genuinely unwrap a surprisingly nice gift.  I had traded my #2 number (to be second in placement to choose a wrapped gift with my 24 year old grandson who had #11.)    As there were 12 of us in the game, I would be second last to choose a wrapped gift. 

There was a Christmas gift bag that no one so far had wanted as the medium size bag was light as a feather and did not seem to contain anything.  Well, I thought I didn't wish to get a silly nothing gift and began to choose the other remaining gift; however, I made a last minute dive for the bag with the seeming 'nothing' in it.  Sure enough:  I got two items:  (1) a Holiday Card that said. 'JOY TO THE WORLD'  and (2) another Christmas message printed so nicely:  PEACE ~ HAPPINESS ~ LOVE ~ JOY!   And Endre when I took the tissue paper out of the bag, there wasn't anything else in it...  My 'light as a feather' Christmas White Elephant gift was my Christmas Message and Endre, I so felt that I got the best of all the White Elephant Gifts.  The other people told me to look again in the bag and I tipped it upside down and it was true...nothing dropped out of the bag. 

The gentleman who had purchased and wrapped all the gifts, remarked on how much FAITH I had and I told him, "I love my gift...I got the best gift of all...I got wishes of  PEACE, HAPPINESS, LOVE,  and JOY."    And those of us who are familiar with the White Elephant Game know that anyone can steal another's gift -- call it trading and of course no one wanted to trade their gift and take mine.  I was so happy, Endre that no one wanted mine, too.  And so the game ended.......Then came the surprise.  
The one person who had purchased all the gifts and only he had wrapped them, well, he came and stood beside me and asked for my sort of large and very empty Christmas Gift Bag.  In front of everyone he remarked on my happiness and joy while ripping off a piece of scotch tape at the top of the empty bag.  Taped and hidden in that seemingly empty bag was a $50.00 gift card to the dining restaurant,  BONEFISH.  Yes, did get some joking trade requests after.  Haha  ~  Your post 'JOY' reminded me of Christmas Eve 'Orlando' White Elephant game  ~ And my wish for you, Endre is the same wishes I got:
