If you have a pet, you know they are part of the family. They need love, attention, training, health care visits, just as our human family members do. They each have distinctive personalities and can be mischievous or funny. You learn to tell when they are angry or happy. Pets can quickly capture your heart, and that of your family.
Our Siberian Husky, Halo, was adopted by my husband about 15 years ago. She had been a rescue dog, who had been abused in the past. My husband and his family made sure her life became much brighter! Her being scared of people and cringing every time someone came over to her soon changed to her being trusting and loving.
Right after I met my husband, I met Halo. The first time I did, she greeted me, I petted her and she immediately became my buddy as well. She was the biggest mush you could imagine. She looked somewhat scary to those who didn't know her but the worst thing she might have done was lick them to death. Halo was funny, loved to run, and was a great family member.
She passed away a few years ago, and for Christmas this year, I contacted our niece Lydia. She's an artist and designer, who among many other talents, also paints pets. Just as we have photos of family on the wall, pet owners often display photos of their pets. And while photos are fine, imagine having a painting of your pet, something special to look at, both while they are here running around the house, and when they have crossed the rainbow bridge.
So I asked Lydia to paint a picture of Halo. It was ready for Christmas and is now hanging on our wall for all to see. She did a fantastic job and I wanted to give her a public shoutout.
