Well if you guessed Los Angeles, because I happen to be writing the question, congratulations you guessed correctly. See's Candy was founded in Los Angeles around 1921 by Charles See and his wife and mother. The art work on the boxes is Mary See's portrait also known as Mother of Charles.
Diane and I have been eating it well let's just say a long time now. So about five or six years ago I was so excited when Berkshire Hathaway bought the See's Candy chain. I felt it was validation, that Berkshire Hathaway thought it was a good value.
The best part is, it is quality Chocolate at a very reasonable price. Diane loves the Scotch Mallows and I love the Dark Chocolate with Marzipan. We can never go wrong by giving each other a pound as a gift. Neither one of us ever complained : Oh why did you get this?
The factory is on La Cienega Blvd and it has a store as well and on every occasion, such as Christmas or other holidays the lines are very long. Now if you want to see when the lines go around the building, well take a guess? Yes you guessed right Valentine's Day is the worst time to try to get chocolate from the factory. Clearly you are better off going to any of the other stores.
Now if you never had See's Candy may I suggest put it on your must taste or should I say try list.
