Buying Or Selling A Charlotte Area Home In 2019? Don't Go It Alone!

Whether you're planning to buy or sell a home (or maybe both), there are many good reasons why you should resolve to use a real estate professional in 2019 and not try to "go it alone." This is a New Year resolution that should be easy to keep. Did you know that just 8% of people who make New Year's resolutions succeed in keeping them? Or that 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by February? If your 2019 resolution is to buy and/or sell a home, I can help you succeed in keeping your resolution to buy and or sell a home in the Charlotte metro area!

5 More Reasons To Resolve To Use A Real Estate Professional In 2019

An experienced real estate professional can also:

  1. Help You Understand The Process

Whether it's your first time purchasing or selling a home, or whether you’re an experienced buyer/seller, there are hundreds of actions that happen during every successful real estate transaction. Someone to guide you through the process, who can explain what is going on at every step of the way can very helpful in ways you can't anticipate.

  1. Point Out Unnoticed Features/Faults with the Property

When you start the process of buying a home, you may be too excited to see each potential home for what it is... good and bad. An experienced agent can help you understand the potential hidden gems or risks before you make an offer. And if you're a seller, an experienced agent can help you understand aspects of your home that may hinder the sale and what can be done to position the home in a more positive light for a quick sale and/or for more money.

  1. Improve Your Knowledge of Neighborhoods

Whether you're moving to a new state, or just across town, having someone who knows the neighborhoods in which you are looking can be an invaluable asset.

  1. Provide A List of Top Service Providers

An experienced agent has relationships with mortgage professionals, home inspectors, appraisers, contractors, movers, and other experts you'll need whether you're buying or selling a home. These contacts can make the process of buying, selling and moving in and out of a home much smoother.

  1. Maximize Exposure for Your Home

If you're selling, you want your home to get the maximum exposure to the greatest number of potential buyers. An experienced listing agent can market and expose your home to a degree that no individual seller can achieve. And with 90+% of home buyers beginning their search on the internet, it's critical to have your home show up where the buyers are looking. It's also worth mentioning that in a for-sale-by-owner, buyer’s agents know there won't be a professional on the other end of the transaction, which can mean numerous headaches. Even if a client insists on seeing your home, their agent might discourage making an offer, citing the hassles and risks of trying to close the deal without a professional representing the seller.

Roy Kelley no doubt about that, Roy. And yet... there are just so many people out there who are not stupid who still think they can do it on their own (often to their ultimate regret).

Hi Nina

Well you certainly got the key reasons covered. Hopefully a much greater percentage of buyers and sellers will keep their resolution to use a real estate professional as compared to the usual number of resolution keepers!

Hi Nina,
The problem with people trying to buy or sell without a local professional is that they "think" they are saving money.  Commissions are a tangible expense but the intangible risks (for buyers and sellers) end up being far more expensive, don't they?  We all have those stories, I'm sure.

Carol Williams hi Carol... I think it's really up to us as real estate professionals to keep getting that message across to the public... that they really don't save money by not using a professional.

Nina, great post, and homeowners THINK it is easy peasy to get a buyer, but it is after the buyer writes, it gets fun.

Joan Cox hi Joan... well, that is an interesting turn of phrase "fun." I've met a few people who realized they were having just a bit too much "fun."

Nina, when the homeowner gets knee deep in the weeds and cannot figure out how to get escape, that is FUN!

Joan Cox well yes, Joan... I just don't know if I would tell a homeowner that!  It's the same "fun" I have when someone lists with another agent who said they could sell the home at a much higher price and months later they finally sell and at lower than what I suggested!
