Happy New Year to you. Last night, Hella and I made it back to Halekulani with 15 minutes to go until midnight. We had been at the Buddhist Temple up the road to get blessed by a Shinto priest, perform the bell ceremony and pick up our lucky amulets for 2019. Including, of course, our golden frogs.
This was after the marvelous Bill Maher show at the Blaisdell Center featuring Eddie Vedder, Natasha Legger, Carol Leifer, Sean Pean. We laughed so hard at times, we cried.
There was a private party happening at House Without a Key, but a lovely Hawaiian hostess looped her arm into Hella's and said she was getting us in there. The hostess kicked some people out of chairs, handed us umbrellas in case of rain and sent over our waiter who brought us each a glass of champagne, just prior to midnight. It doesn't get any better than that unless it's dancing the last dance for the night, Donna Summer's: On the Radio.
