January 2nd is “Run It Up the Flagpole and See if Anyone Salutes It” Day. As silly as that sounds, it's actually a phrase from the 1950s and 1960s that was primarily used in print and advertising. It means to present an idea and see if anyone likes it. It's similar to "let's throw it at the wall and see if it sticks" and "let's drop it in the pool  and see if it makes a splash." In other words, today is a day about sharing new ideas and concepts.

Rejection holds many of us back from trying new things, especially when the concept feels wholly ours. But the truth is that no one thinks less of you for taking a new route if you're trying to improve your life and business, as long as it doesn't infringe upon the good health and safety of others. So, if you have an idea for improving your business or life at home, present it and see if the idea is accepted.

If your idea is rejected or the concept doesn't quite work out, find out why and change it. It may have weak spots revealed by the person or people you are sharing it with. Be thankful! This is your chance to make it even more awesome.

"I believe that rejection is a blessing because it's the universe's way of telling you that there's something better out there." -Michelle Phan
