I was just surfing through my Facebook feed, and came across this story.  It's the story of the top real estate broker in the U.S.  I thought it would be an interesting article, and perhaps a little motivating, for 2019.

It turns out, just in case you don't want to click on the link and read the article, that the top broker in the country (based on 2017 numbers) sold a total of 4,799 home for a cumulative $1.9 billion dollars in sales (that's right... with a "B".

I have to tell you that I took a moment to calculate his potential commission, and it did cause an inward intake of breath.  G'head, I'll wait while you do that too (less'n, of course, if you've already done it).

He's made the Guiness Book of World Records, based in Texas, he's sold on average 400 homes each month, or if you'd like to drill further down, that comes to about 92 homes per week, or 19 homes each day.

I feel like such a slacker!

Now, in fairness, I'm sure he's got an incredible team of people around him.... but let's give him credit for building that team, and knowing what to do with it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm just going to go run 2018's number, and cry into my beer.

I have to say how i love your titles Alan May . To accomplish that it seems like a whole office, not just a team.  Here in my area we have offices that are in 1 agents name an dthey have 50 agents selling homes under him. I bet neither owner knows their clients, and it is why i sell service. Have a good Friday

Well, good for him, but all that money isn't going to mean much when he keels over from a heart attack.  With that many sales, and lord only knows how many agents, his stress level has to be on coronary most days.  No thanks.  I'm good being a "slacker'

Sounsd impressive, but I'm pretty sure this is the result of flat rate listing new builder inventory. I doubt you can count on a 3% commission on the $1.9B

It would be interesting to know how many people he employs so that "he" can sell that volume. It may be that he never meets a single client. (Suppose I should read the article.)

OK - I read it. And he didn't share that detail. I think for him to say "he" sold that much real estate is kinda like the head of General Motors saying "he" built X number of cars.

I think the guy works with builders selling their new home developments.  Anyway 400 a month is nothing. I once knew and worked with a Broker that had built a nationwide referral network where he would refer buyers to brokers all over the country that worked almost exclusively for his network.  He would typically receive 25 to 50 percent referral fees on each transaction. At the peak back in 2006 before the market crashed his network was selling about 800 homes per month. He retired after the crash but he was big league.

Absolutely correct. 400 a month is tremendous. Definitely not nothing.

My volume is very strong but that is off the charts. The real key is,did he make much money doing this? Expenses would be awfully hard to control.
