My granddaughter, Molly, LOVES dinosaurs. She reads about dinosaurs, she draws dinosaurs and she even sleeps with dinosaurs. She probably even eats dinosaurs (cookies).

It reminds me of when I was about eight years old, my cousins and I found dinosaur bones out in the woods on the farm. We were really into dinosaurs too---and this was before Jurassic Park. For several days we dragged the old bleached bones back to the house and lined them up on the lawn---some of the bones were almost as big as we were.
In "retrospect" I can't believe my parents put up with it----the dogs didn't even seem too interested in them (must have been too old).
In "retrospect" I can't believe I never understood the disconnect between how old I was and how long ago dinosaurs roamed the earth. Were there ever any dinosaurs in Connecticut? In our eight year old heads there were---might even still be---some where on the other side of the "Back-40."
In "retrospect" I can't believe I was so STUPID!!!!
You see----things aren't always the way they "seem" or the way you "wish" them to be----sometimes things are simply the way that they "are." So as we kept digging out the dinosaurs bones, and carefully catalogued them on the front lawn----it was sort of a rude awakening when we found the horse shoes .

PS, for those of you that are new to my blog (or for some other "unexplained" reason have never noticed)
all pictures and smiley-face inserts (emoticons) (when I use them) have messages that show up when you point at them with your cursor.

Wow~ that's pretty incredible to find dinosaur bones. As a kid I was thrilled to find Indian arrowheads.
