Looking Both Ways

Looking Both Ways - Pondering

Stop.

Look.

Listen.

Look Again.  You know so much in life goes back to the things we learn long ago.

In real life.

And in real estate.  So many things "real".

The basics. Important.  The foundation.  Often it is said that we must return/get back to the basics.

It may be true in January as we start a new year but it is true throughout the year too.

I recently saw a man and a young child(I think a boy I imagine about five or six years old being held by hand) crossing the street.  Early morning though already light maybe around 8AM.

Not crossing in a  crosswalk.  In traffic.  Nothing happened thankfully.

But lessons  are "out there".

An opportunity to teach.  And to inform.  To share.  Especially since there is an elementary school just around the corner.

There is no need to say anything.  Yet there is plenty that can be said.

I pondered.  What lessons in life are unspoken?  We may

learn them when we are young.  If we are fortunate we continue learning for a lifetime.

Michael,

We agree wholeheartedly.  One of the things we preach is the practice of the fundamentals, because the fundamentals give you the transportation to innovation.  They never ever get old, and yes, you have to look both ways.  And there is nothing more fundamental than human interraction...A

Must be the reason the book

"All I Really need to know I learned in kindergarten " was written.

I can't imagine a parent crossing the street in California traffic not where you should. That's crazy.

I remember driving slowly by a school a few years ago.  Out of no where I small kid darted out between two parked cars right in front of me.  Had I not been driving quite slowly, that kid would have been seriously hurt.  It had me shaking for a bit.

Good Morning Michael Jacobs - As in life, it goes on and "life goes back to the things we learn long ago." You might be interested in checking William Feela post regarding the first tablet.  I have a feeling, you were part of that club.

Going back to teach the basics is not a bad idea. It can save a life!

One of the first lessons we learn in life is to look both ways before crossing the street and this has always applied for me in looking at pretty much everything that I do.  I try to look both ways in making decisions.

I agree, Michael.  We should be examples for children and go to the crosswalk and then look both ways in all things.

I have found Michael Jacobs, through my five grandchildren, that they are like sponges and they love learning.  They can recite to you every reason you should look both ways. I have clients, on the other hand, that don't hear a word I am saying...

Once again, being present. It's so imperative that we get out of auto-pilot mode and into deliberate thinking  Thanks again for a great example of how dangerous this can be for all of us.

Good morning Michael Jacobs ,

We all have to realize the life lessons we pass on to our children and grandchildren often tend to come from what we do and say each day. Not being mindful and taking the time to do things the right way are observed and repeated by future generations.
